It’s About Time

Isn’t it always?

With the start of World War III by the United States “declaring” war against Russia by its actions in Ukraine, we have entered a time when the end of time has become very possible.  I am speaking of nuclear annihilation.

I look down at my great-uncle’s gold Elgin pocket watch from the 19th century.  His name was John Patrick Whalen, an Irish immigrant to the U.S. who fled England’s colonialist created famine in Ireland.  It tells me it is 5:15 PM on April 21, 2022, a date, coincidentally, with a history.  No doubt John looked at his watch on this date in 1898 when the United States, after the USS Maine exploded from within in Havana harbor (a possible false flag attack), declared war on Spain in order to confiscate Spanish territories – Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines.  One colonial power replaced another and then proceeded over the long decades to wage war and slaughter these island peoples.  Imperialism never dies.  It is timeless.

One hundred-and twenty-four years go by in a flash and it’s still the same old story.  In 1898 the yellow press screamed Spanish devils and today it screams Russian devils.  Then and now the press called for war.  If the human race is still here in another 124 years, time and the corporate media will no doubt have told the same story – war and propaganda’s lies to an insouciant and ignorant population too hypnotized by propaganda to oppose them. This despite the apocalyptic sense that permeates our lives because of demonic technology and its use to transform humans into machines who can’t think clearly enough to perceive reality and realize the threat posed by that quintessential technological invention – nuclear weapons.

This is not uplifting, but it’s true.  The nuclear weapons are primed and ready to fly.  The U.S. insists on its first-strike right to launch them.  It openly declares it is seeking the overthrow of the Russian government.  Russia says it will use nuclear weapons only if its existence is threatened, which has become increasingly so because of U.S. provocations over a long time period and its current expanding arming of Ukraine’s government and its neo-Nazi forces.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin and its Foreign Secretary Sergei Lavrov have just warned the U.S. that such involvement has made nuclear war a “serious” and “real” risk, in Lavrov’s words “we must not underestimate it,” which is a mild form of diplomatic speech. Putin said that Russia has made all the preparations to respond if it senses a strategic threat to Russia and that response will be “instant, it will be quick.”  The U.S. response is to shrug these statements off, just as it has done so for many years with Putin’s complaints about NATO forces moving up to its border.  Incredibly, Biden has said, “For God’s sake, this man (Putin) cannot remain in power.”

Despite endless media/intelligence anti-Russian propaganda – “a vast tapestry of lies,” to use Harold Pinter’s phrase – many fine writers have provided the historical details to confirm the truth that the U.S. has purposely provoked the Russian war in Ukraine by its actions there and throughout Eastern Europe, which the mainstream media avoid completely. This U.S. aggressive history against Russia is part of a much larger history of imperial hubris extending back to the 19th century.  I will therefore here follow Thoreau’s advice – “If you are acquainted with the principle, what do you care for a myriad instances and applications?” – since how many times do people need to hear lies such as “Iraq has weapons of mass destruction” in order to justify wars of aggression around the world.  The historical facts are very clear, but facts and history don’t seem to matter to many people. Pinter again, in his Nobel Address, bluntly told the truth about the U.S.’s history of systematic and remorseless war crimes: “Nothing ever happened. Even while it was happening it wasn’t happening. It didn’t matter. It was of no interest.”  Which is still the case.

So time is my focus, for the last days have arrived unless there occurs a radical awakening to the obvious truth that the U.S. government is pushing the world to the brink of disaster in full awareness of the consequences.  Its actions are insane, yet insanity has become the norm.  Insane leaders and a catatonic, hypnotized public lead to disaster.

I write these words with an old fountain pen, a high school graduation gift, to somehow comfort and remind myself that when we were this close once before in October 1962, Kennedy and Khrushchev miraculously found a solution to the Cuban Missile Crisis; and to find hope now, and that when my time is up and I join John Patrick in the other world, things will have changed for my children and grand-children.  It is admittedly the hope of a desperado.

The last few years of the Covid-19 propaganda have served to further distort people’s sense of time, a distortion years in the making through the introduction of digital technology with its accompanying numerical time clicks and its severing of our natural sense of time that is tied to the rising and falling of the tides and the turning of the days and seasons, a feeling that is being lost. Such felt sense of time’s texture could be slow or faster, but it had limits.  We now live in a world without limits, which, as the ancient Greeks knew, demands payback.

For years before Covid-19, the sense of speed time was dominant, supported by the politically-introduced state of a constant emergency after September 11, 2001 with the urgency to hurry and keep up or one would fall behind.  Keep up with what was never explained.  Hurry why?  Fast and faster was the rule with constant busyness that served the very useful social function of leaving no time for thinking, which was the point, but it made many feel as though they were engaged.  And constantly alert for “terrorists” to come knocking.  Thus the long wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, etc., all of which continue via various subterfuges.

Then, presto, all this frenzied time sense came to a stop with the 2020 lockdowns, when time got very slow, but not slow in the natural sense but an enforced slowness.  People were locked up.  Not only was it stupefying but stultifying and an existential drag.  This went on for two years with the prisoners allowed short respites only to be rounded back up and locked down again. Jabbed and jolted was the plan.  When will it ever end? was the common cry, as despair and depression spread and scrambled minds led to suicides and mindless screen entertainment.  This was planned education for a trans-human future in which the cell phone will be central to totalitarian control if people do not rebel.

Those behind the Covid-19 and war propaganda are fanatical technocrats who seek total control of the world’s population through digital technology.  Now they have temporarily let the people out of one type of cell and dramatically sped up time with frantic war propaganda against Russia.  The great English writer John Berger said it perfectly:

Every ruling minority needs to numb, and, if possible, to kill the time-sense of those whom it exploits. This is the authoritarian secret of all methods of imprisonment.

Everyone is now doing time while scrolling messages on the walls of their cell phones.  A twisted, convoluted, distorted, mechanical time in which it seems that there is no history and the future is an endless road of more of the same.

Some say we have all the time in the world.  I say no, that we have entered a new time, perhaps the end-time, when the world’s end is a very real possibility.  Hypnotized people can agree to anything, even mass-suicide, unless they snap out of it.  This can only happen with a return to slowness in the old sense, when people once felt time in their hearts’ rhythms attuned to the rising and falling of nature’s reality.  Time to think and contemplate the fate of the earth when nuclear war is contemplated.  Yes, “We must not underestimate it.”

It’s about time.

Isn’t it always?

      1. joseph, I’m only responding because you asked. I wrote a response to, I think Eddy, and it was put in a review queue and never posted. The post was not any different than the rest of the conversation here.

Never heard anything from Ed so I’m assuming he’s the admin who censored it. They do this on ConsortiumNews whenever you question the official pandemic story.

        Didn’t expect it here.

        1. Art,

I never censored a remark. I don’t do that. So I am confused. All comments are allowed here. It’s free speech.

          1. Ed, I received a response when I submitted and it said it was in for review, and then never posted.

Whether it’s an issue with the website, I don’t know.
I was hoping you’d respond when I posted that quick remark.
I enjoy your writing and the engaging commenters here. So I’ll continue.

            Thank you for responding.

            1. Hi Ed and Art…I too have had unpredictable responses/messages and most of the time I must hit ‘reply’ twice. Or…if their is some kind of browser/search engine delay ???

            2. I have also run into difficulties and similar messages when posting. I try to remember to copy the text in case it doesn’t post. Sometimes you can get it back with the “back” button and then post it. It seems to be a glitch in the program. I think it happens more when it takes a lot of time to write the post.

  1. Hi Joseph,

Gates and his foundation have bought up a lot of media, so he is welcomed by them as an expert on whatever subject he wants to talk about. Economic coercion or inducement drives quite a lot of the agenda being pursued by these people. They have turned almost unlimited wealth into almost unlimited power.

As someone has suggested, Gates is a “bad cop” of the transhuman new world order agenda in the public eye. Elon Musk would be a “good cop” (unless he proves otherwise), doing things that line up with the agenda, but talking about freedom of speech and presenting the sexier aspects of what is on offer: cool electric cars, space travel, and chip implants to help the disabled.

That sounds good compared to Gates vaxx mandates, especially if one has been observant enough to notice that he is killing people.

But Elon has been elevated by the same people as Gates, so likely is not what we would like to think him to be.

    1. Hi Eddy, I have no expectations of Musk or Gates. I don’t know how insanity can bring about anything worthwhile for life on this planet. I see all this neurotic behavior escalating far beyond any control. There is really no collective objection to anything the great deciders serve to us, to the world!

      1. I went to a coffee/pastry shop this morning. Very long line, no one spoke to each other. This reminded me of a chow line in the military…which is what is was. No one speaks, no one says good morning. I broke the silence in my section. Doesn’t matter. So the citizens alienate themselves from each other while the criminals and destroyers speak regularly. Has anyone defined what a women is yet? Apparently some lady was having a problem with that question. Has any man lectured on what it is like to carry a child for 9 months? I don’t think this is a healthy condition. Speak up about this mess,…apathy prevails or perhaps someone with a personal agenda becomes interested…, usually that means making more money that is not needed. We have a social disaster right here in our back yards ! What to do ?

  2. A different perspective might suggest that the brinkmanship currently on display is a sham for public consumption, and that the big club has no intention of literally blowing the whole thing up. They will break it up financially and politically and cull the population in the hope of build back better, but nuclear holocaust is not on their menu.

It is perhaps an optimistic (!?) view, and even if true, things might go wrong in the direction of nuclear war. So, we would do well to keep that in mind.

But let’s see, Putin was a WEF Young Global Leader, according to Klaus Schwab. China had high level representation at Event 201, right beside all the western kleptocrats. There are a number of collegial organizations which include all or many of them, like Bilderberg and the Trilateral commission.

China’s lockdown of the port of Shanghai lines up nicely with the Avian Flu slaughter of millions of poultry (purportedly based on PCR tests), sanctions on Russia, vaxx passports to drive goods across the border between Canada and the US, mandates on workers, food processing plant fires and airplane collisions, and any number of events and policies pointed toward making shortages worse.

Russia’s operation in Ukraine came in time to take the heat off Justin Trudeau and the rising up of the Canadian people in protest, and the unmasking of the Covid narrative. The time has come to forget, at least temporarily, about the plague, and to be moved to tears and anger over the demonic leader of Russia.

Looked at this way, it appears that Operation Lockstep is still ongoing, and that all the major political leaders are onboard.

So there is still hope for the 500,000,000 people the Georgia Guide-stones claim is a sustainable level. Yay.

    1. Hi Eddy, I was not able to find this video a second time….I saw a series of interviews with gates and talks by gates. He was absolutely incoherent, nothing to say, attempting to adlib, tripping over his tongue; the only thing he is clear and happy about, in a sadistic like manner is reducing populations. Is he simply a large scale homicidal maniac? I’m sure he is and he really should get some kind of treatment for his syndrome, both psychological and physical treatment. Why in the hell would any common bum take this idiot seriously about any subject? He is truly a demented organism!

    2. Eddy I understand your position, and I agree that nuclear war is not really “on the table” (the rhetoric insinuates it). I’ve begun questioning the notion of “nuclear” weapons. This has evolved as I studied the claims of a “pathogenic virus”. It’s my contention that on the latter matter there has never been a scientific basis for such a pathogen and that what we’ve experienced, most intensely over the past 2+ years, was a phantom based on life long belief systems, reinforced by answers to why am I feeling ill – reply – “you probably caught a virus”.

Those in the know, know that there not only never was a SAR-Cov-2 virus, but such a particle was not needed at all because it was a belief system which ruled and a thousand reinforcements from media, neighbors, scientifically-baseless “mandates”, censorships, medical coercion, etc.

Likewise there’s no need for a nuclear weapon. It is enough to state emphatically they exist and will destroy life “as we know it” (and the added photos of WWII Japan). Certainly the notion of an “atomic bomb” whereby “atoms are split” is non-sensical. Atoms are as hypothetical as “pathogenic viruses”, never actually seen. Regardless, there are weapons aplenty and these can do much destruction. There may even be various directed energy weapons ala Tesla; some speculate brought down the WTC buildings.

Regarding the WEF and Russia’s involvement with the “Great Reset” and technocracy. I think the main motive is the unsustainable debt which crops up over the centuries and it needs to be addressed, and while “they’re” at it they want to use digital currency as a means of population control (they already do that but this would be far more repressive).

However, in parallel there has been the development of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and S. Africa, more have been added) and One Road One Belt initiative which is sweeping much of the developing globe into Latin America. China belongs to the former and is behind the latter. The Russian economist Sergey Glazyev, sees the need for currency reset as inevitable, but that the new economic world order will be driven by China and India and the BRICS group and national sovereignty is still central. Here’s an article with Sergey Glazyev that best describes this planning:

There’s also this article by Ellen Brown who has done excellent work on debt and public banking. In both Glazyev’s and Brown’s articles indebted nations would be relieved on this burden (after all the debt is based on stolen resources). So the problem is real, but the solutions differ between Brown/Glazyev and WEB/Schwab.

  3. “Everyone is now doing time while scrolling messages on the walls of their cell phones.”

I see what you did there! I’m sure most people don’t know their cell phones have walls. Or that their scrolling corresponds to scrawling, scratching out the days in bundles of five, or leaving your name (or image) for the perusal of future cell prisoners. People don’t think about words enough to wonder why that name for that device.

Digital prison entertainment compresses the perceived time component of confinement. Otherwise, it would be difficult to find voluntary prisoners among those whose time is running out.

When I go among them, I am amazed at what has been normalized in the desire for normalcy. Still, we talk of sports teams as if they mattered, as if the season would go on as normal, and of course, there is always next season. Until there isn’t.

The real events of the world have been papered over in their minds, with the prescribed rationalities. It would be incongruous to mention the truth. As others have said, we have been conditioned to cringe at the mention of God.

    1. Good morning Eddy….we were just talking about the parasitic criminals and the addicts and junkies and sailors too ! Well, as Ross Perot frequently stated…”are we going to talk about it or are we going to do it?” He at least was a bit humorous. So what is it that we must/should do? Continually putting barriers between us…, I don’t think is a very healthy idea! We spoke this morning about our grossly incompetent, cowardly town manager. He couldn’t manage a men’s room while being the only occupant!
Apathy…, cellphone addictions, iPod addictions, drug addictions, prescription drug addictions, indoctrinating systems…., boy we have a hell of a mess and are way behind in developing wholesome relations and strategies. Say hello to someone you don’t know.

  4. While, Amy, I agree with what you describe as “their” intent. It’s not just that “we’ve” been compliant, but we have embraced “their” world order. The notion that prior to pick a date we’re free as birds, lived in a democracy with free speech and a constitution that protected everyone who lived here is so much garbage. The steps taken, bit by bit have led us to now. None of this just occurred, nor is it some sort of historical eugenics that drives the hierarchy we’ve been told is “civilization”

Consumerism, social services, capital (whether state or corporate), Obamacare, vouchers, electronic benefits transactions, etc. have been ruling, but before that feudalism. I say resist being coerced into poison injections. The science is pretty fake, and so becoming robotic transhumans or automatons doesn’t require nano-particles. Look what they feed children with psycho-drugs…walking zombies, or the opioids which dull and kill. The country is awash with these and more.

Much of the compliance comes from a host of brainwashing techniques that do seem to work on most people.

Resist but let’s have a vision and a plan to go with it. The US was never designed to be a democracy. It was designed by the wealthy elite for the wealthy elite. Let’s tell the truth on that score. 93%+ this nation has been at war. The powers have won head to head battles in the past. This time they don’t really need us. We may have an exit, but without a plan we’ll just be slaves.
    On that note…here’s a thought:

    1. Yes Art…”let’s have a vision and a plan to go with it”…, We have organic vegetable seedlings for sale. If you lived next door, we could trade seedlings for something we fairly agreed upon. Unfortunately this is not understood, for around here most college graduates are still trying to understand what ‘good morning’ means. Their indoctrination displaced their humanity; this condition not understood nor even any insight into…, thus a community effort is very difficult. Communication must occur to establish community. What is the substance of the communications. OUR shared Humaness ! I feel therefore I am. I must have wholesome nourishment. I must have friends. I must speak from my inner being. Small brain is okay for giving directions to the garden that we will share. I must share my feelings of fear so that I may understand more deeply this thing called ‘fear’ and how to process this emotion, this condition. We must share these things! If we hadn’t accepted our indoctrination, we would be doing this and more often. And the experience is enlightening and with sameness.

      1. Yes, joseph you identified the problem/solution, we don’t live near one another and all the “like-minded” folks who see this and know what we need to do.

  5. To enlarge on this excellent essay:

There is an evil predator globalist technocratic elite agenda of eugenics/depopulation/genocide using bioweapon poison jabs, war, EMF radiation, GEOENGINEERING, starvation and economic collapse – THE GREAT RESET/AGENDA 2030/4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION to get rid of billions of ‘useless eaters’ and to use nano tech to turn the survivors into ROBOTIZED COMPLIANT SLAVES! WAKE UP AND RESIST! DO NOT COMPLY! These are psychopath megalomaniacs who want to play god by turning all life into digitized metaverse mechanistic synthetic biology to be manipulated by their AI algorithms. A more demonic sickening idea is nearly impossible to imagine!

    Pam Popper:

    Del Bigtree:

    Naomi Wolf:

  6. Incredibly, Biden has said, “For God’s sake, this man (Putin) cannot remain in power.”
The sentence above is an example of how they maintain the illusion of sovereign nations. The one hundred and ninety four UN-member ‘states’ are actually bankrupt corporations controlled by the entities behind the private Central Banks.
Putin, Biden and all the others get told what to do and when to do it. The current false flag is another step towards their Agenda2030 technocratic panopticon, the control mechanism is undergoing an ‘update’, what they call a reset.

  7. The problem is we’re struggling with ghosts. We’re lead to believe that there will be a technocracy which will reduce and eliminate sickness, even death, and that includes war. That is the Great Reset. I think the final war is in process and it is the elimination of much of humanity, but not through nuclear war. Nuclear war, like so-called bio-weapons, are weapons of terror. They cannot be controlled.

I think global capitalism is at its “end-time”. It can’t go on. The system demands a reset if any of it is to continue for those who benefit the most – the elite and the technocrats. “We” have become with more and more technology useless to this power. Our labor is not needed, nor even our bodies as cannon fodder. All of this is now automated and requires very little human intervention.

To be clear, the current “war” is between the US and Russia, Ukraine is simply a mercenary proxy. But why? What is to be gained? Access to Eurasia and its natural resources? A belief in the story that those who possess Eurasia own the world? Well if that were the case Russia would be the owner since it occupies much of Eurasia and has for centuries.

Again, while some sort of massive bombing that could find its way cross the ocean may be upon us, it should be clear that those we think are in power, are not. The powerful are invisible. We on the other hand may have a choice if we realize what we’re up against, and through a method of walking away, of building a totally different world order, intentionally and organically we may actually escape the madness that has prevailed for thousands of years – even when it was met with direct violent confrontation. The arrangement has been called civilization – rule by a few over the many.

  8. Skip and Joseph, a little serendipity. I was blown away by Oregon’s music starting way back in the mid-1970’s when I first encountered and bought their album “Music of Another Future Present Era.” Amazing, beautiful, evocative of the kind of whole, humane world many of us imagined was possible. Thanks for reminding me guys. I’ll have to see if I can find a video of them in a live show.

    1. I saw them play at my college (Glassboro State) and at a small place called the “Main Point” in Bryn Mawr, Pa in 1975 and 1976. It was unforgettable. Collin Walcott was killed in a car wreck and has been replaced by Mark Walker. Walker has changed the feel of the band a bit, but is very good. I’m not surprised that you and Joseph are already familiar.

      1. Skip…I know the Main Point. Many great musicians appeared there. I can’t remember the venues where I saw Oregon. They were all in the Philadelphia region. I did see Collin Wolcott. I saw a video of which featured Ralph Towner when he was much younger. The purity and innocence in his eyes and just incredible guitar work. I can say I love that man!

  9. Thank you Edward and Gary for sharing yourself…., I have thought about how much longer I want to know this world…., it’s like the old friend who is no longer a friend…., joe

  10. My psyche seems to run through and replay very similar thoughts and fears daily Ed. They percolate quite incessantly, allowing only intermittent breaks to enjoy the immediacy of my grandchildren’s smiles, or to get lost momentarily in the feel and sound of holding and playing my guitar.

The musical realm has been hard to enter for some time now. Several years in fact. I’m familiar with the pattern. When my soul most needs to escape into playing music the most, is when I’m least able to enter that magical realm because the weight of the world is simply too heavy, too present to be simply ignored or cloistered to be faced another day. It can feel as if to play music is to deny reality somehow. Not consciously, but at some energetic cosmic level. And so most days, most weeks, the guitar sits in the corner.

Behind my joy in basking in my young grandson’s smiles and laughter is always the undeniable awareness that we are being led by madmen deeper and deeper into a collective madness that has no sane or humane endpoint. There is only more madness. It is the utter irrational madness of the Holy Inquisition combined with nuclear weapons. What could go wrong?

MSM talking heads look straight into the camera and speak a babbling idiocy, a madness so disconnected from reality that for any reasonably sane and informed human being their behavior is rather shocking. And yet when NPR repeats the madness, and Fox News repeats the madness, and MSNBC repeats the madness, over and over and over, it somehow simply magically transforms into – “the official truth.” And there it is I suppose. A nation that can believe in the “official truth” of a “magic bullet” – a bullet that can defy the very laws of physics – can I suppose readily embrace any and all forms of irrationality and madness.

I can’t help but think that the global oligarchy has over-played it’s hand, causing a loss of faith and trust even among many who until covid wouldn’t have thought to question the moral integrity of the Fauci’s and WHO’s of the world. I can’t help but think that this means global oligarchy’s future efforts to subjugate humanity to its mad dictates will thus become ever more violent, totalitarian and irrational. When a cultural myth system dies the ensuing madness and chaos must somehow be “normalized” because there is nothing sane or whole or real to replace it with.

The 500+ year rule of Western imperialism and militarism now combined with rapacious ecocidal neoliberal capitalism is crumbling. Those Uber-wealthy at the top of the smoking pile of rubble are attempting to throw themselves a desperate “Hail Mary” pass that will somehow insure their wealth and power in a future which promises the rest of us that we will “own nothing” while we will be “happy” to be serfs on the new neofeudal trans-humanist plantation. Good luck with that guys. It sounds rather barking-mad to me I must say.

I loved your essay Ed. It certainly hit home. Your work always makes me think and often helps me express what feels much of the time simply “inexpressible.” Thank you for that.

    1. Excellent comment Gary to an equally fine essay. I am not a musician myself, but nearly all my friends in college were. In case you are not familiar with their music, here is a link to a fine piece of music by the group “Oregon”. They also have an album done along with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra that is excellent. When they went to Moscow to do the album, they found that the entire orchestra was already familiar with their music. Music is a universal language that dissolves boundaries.

      1. Thanks Skip…it was a treat to see the name Oregon ! Saw them a few times back in the 70’s and early 80’s. They are very special musicians.

      2. We have been fans of Oregon for many years. Our kids used to go to sleep with “Roots in the Sky” playing. We found the cd again on a trip last year, and it is a joy to hear.

        1. Eddy your post reminded me of a exquisite piece by Oregon. There is a version of this where Ralph Towner sings the lyrics…, ‘The Silence of a Candle’ from ‘Music of Anther Present Era’…interesting album title!
So we appear to be what we have been…, programmed entities marching in place in quick sand.

          1. Joe, as I recall, it was unusual for them to have vocals, but I’ll have to check out that album once we get settled in our new location. We are in the process of selling our house in Ohio and moving to the Ozarks and a house we bought last year. And we need to have a new HVAC system installed there once we are moved. So we have our hands full.

I believe that some of the members of Oregon were previously part of a group called The Winter Consort. Looking it up now, I see those were Ralph Towner and Paul McCandless.

I’m not a fan of most of what might be called “new age” music, though one might classify these bands as that, or “world” music.

But the wonderful musicianship and improvisational skills of these folks is amazing.

            1. Eddy, the Ralph Towner ‘vocal’ version of that piece is on the album titled; ‘Paul Winter, Winter Consort Icarus. This group included David Darling, Paul McCandless, Ralph Towner, Herb Bushler Collin Walcott and Paul Winter. Looks like 1972. I have the LP in front of me. Improvisational skills…yes…Towner is incredible on guitar…not a bad pianist either as well as an occasional note on an English Horn. Boy…this is fun ! Music has always been very important to me.

    2. I have had a similar experience regarding playing guitar. I could really use the therapeutic effects of playing, but it’s hard to get to “that place” with all that’s going on in the world. I do occasionally pick it up, but not as often as I should.

I’m retiring at the end of the month, and I hope to get my chops back to the point I can play some local venues again.
